About the Celebration

The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a yearlong celebration of excellence culminating in a formal gala on Aug. 29. Other events include a series of lectures from former students beginning Sept. 18, a football tailgate for all former students and friends on Nov. 2.

The celebration will conclude with the college’s annual Dean’s Roundtable event in which sponsors honor the accomplishments and dedication of those who have made a positive impact on the lives of people in the great state of Texas and beyond. The 2020 event will honor 50 transformational leaders and include a formal gala with keynote speaker to be announced at a later date.

Throughout the year, former students are encouraged to give back to the college so tomorrow’s students receive the cutting-edge training critical to solving the challenges of our time through the 50 for 50: A Challenge for the Decades.

When you make a donation as part of the campaign, your gift will help fund scholarships, graduate fellowships and general student support for future Aggie leaders. Each gift will be marked with the class year of the donor. The winning decade will be announced at the 50th Anniversary Gala. Proceeds from sponsor gifts and the 50 for 50 Challenge will go towards our goal of raising $500,000 to create endowed and non-endowed scholarships, graduate fellowships, and general student support in the college.

The College of Education and Human Development opened its doors under the direction of Dr. Frank W.R. Hubert on September 1, 1969. The following decades saw the development of a strong, cohesive college through the recruitment of faculty from major research universities across the nation and by building quality programs.

The college is now home to four departments: Educational Psychology, Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, Health and Kinesiology, and Teaching, Learning and Culture. We are committed to excellence in preparation of leaders in the fields of education, health, business and sport. With nationally-recognized faculty experts, staff and students, the college maintains its standing as a leader among its peers.
